We met on February 25th, 2024 on Catholicmatch.com but our story begins before that day.
Since she was young, Laura knew she wanted to be a wife and mother and felt she was called to marriage. It had been a dream for years, but she had never even been on a date. She had been on Catholic Match for several years and was getting discouraged. On February 25th, she visited the statue of Saint Joseph at her church after Mass and left everything in God’s hands with Jesus’ words, “Not my will be done, but thine.”
Johnny had been on Catholic Match previously and did not have a good experience but was willing to try again. He started a 54 day Novena about a week before Lent began, asking God for a woman. Then after some days he changed his petition to ask for a sweet woman. He came back to Catholic Match before Lent and cautiously explored. It didn’t take long to find Laura’s profile. He decided to message her the morning of February 25th.
Shortly after praying by the statue of Saint Joseph, Laura headed home from Mass with her parents. They stopped at the grocery store on the way home. While her parents went into the store, she opened her phone to check email and saw that Johnny had sent her a message on Catholic Match. She read his message, looked through his profile, and messaged him immediately. By the end of the day, they had messaged back and forth several times. Laura told her family that Johnny was everything she had been looking for.
Johnny and Laura are both writers, so they expressed much between them over email and messages. Johnny said to Laura in an email that he had been “fine alone” for many years, distracted by hobbies and work. Laura felt the same way. Neither of them was truly happy until they found each other.
It took us one week to fall in love and, after 10 weeks of messaging, phone calls, and scheming, Johnny came to visit Laura in Fallon for her birthday. We had so much fun, Laura flew up to Idaho a couple weeks later to meet Johnny’s family. By the end of that visit Johnny proposed to his sweet Laura on June 1st after Saturday night Mass, in front of the Saint Joseph statue. Johnny wanted to include Saint Joseph in the proposal because we were brought together by him.
We are so excited to start the next chapter of our lives together, and we look forward to celebrating with you. Please look at our photo page to see more of our story.
